AbacusConsulting sponsored the ‘3rd International CEO Summit 2012’ organized by Manager Today on May 24th 2012.

Top business leaders from across the country attended the event and shared their valuable knowledge regarding the challenges being faced by Pakistan and the ways to tackle them. The discussion was followed by the launch of “100 Business Leaders of Pakistan”, a book that covers the distinguished business personalities, leaders, entrepreneurs and difference makers of the country.

Recognizing the challenges being faced by the NGOs in Pakistan and in order to cater to their specific needs, AbacusConsulting arranged for an exclusive workshop on June 7th 2012 at Marriott, Islamabad pertaining to the benefits of SAP Business One.

The unique workshop was aimed at helping key decision makers and managers in the NGO industry to understand the use of SAP Business One in order to overcome the major business challenges. The workshop also focused on how, with the use of SAP Business One, expenses can be effectively monitored and costs can be reduced. Near the end of the conference audience had the opportunity to interact and share knowledge with existing SAP Business One NGO clients.

This underlying aim of the workshop was to assist the key decision makers in acquiring information regarding SAP Business One. Therefore, notable individuals from managerial and executive levels were present from numerous NGOs.

AbacusConsulting has been engaged by the Middle East based Pergola Group, to provide buy-side advisory services towards the acquisition of National Power Construction Corporation Ltd. (NPCC) which is being privatized by Government of Pakistan through the Privatization Commission. The scope of work broadly includes a comprehensive due diligence exercise covering corporate, accounting & financial, taxation, HR and organizational due diligence of NPCC.  Also part of the scope of work is a parallel module comprising of business valuation study assuming NPCC as an ‘As-Is’ going concern.

NPCC is a turn-key contractor established in 1974 by the Government of Pakistan with the objective of executing on-shore and off-shore power engineering projects. The company’s project portfolio includes execution of power engineering projects in Pakistan and the MENA region though KSA has largely remained the focal territory. It has completed contracts worth over USD 700mn since inception.

Both the modules, namely the Due Diligence Module and the Valuation Module are inextricably linked and provide data inputs into each other.  The due diligence study is aimed at ascertaining any red flags and financial risks for our Client, the potential bidder for NPCC, along with the identification of any key benefits and synergies.  The business valuation exercise is based on development of an elaborate Excel-based business valuation model that would incorporate critical valuation parameters and help in calculating an appropriate transaction price range and deal structure.

AbacusConsulting has successfully acquired an important project to provide Technical Assistance (TA) to the Education Sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa. This is a DFID funded project, led by Adam Smith International (ASI) in association with AbacusConsulting, OPM and Cambridge Education.

The objectives of this project are to increase Human Capital (better educated and skilled citizens) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Province, and to sustain the increase in the number of girls and boys participating in better quality primary and secondary education in KP.

This project is a high-pace, result oriented TA program working in the spirit of partnership with Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa (GoKP) at provincial, district and tehsil levels. The focus of this endeavor will be to:

i) Assist the GoKP in implementation of Education Sector Plan through a Roadmap,

ii) Provide strategic direction and TA to Chief Minister and his team,

iii)Oversee the use of Education Sector Delivery Grants particularly facilitating the KP Government to achieve its annual targets,

iv) Build capacity of various departments,

v) Support the GoKP in developing partnership with the private sector, monitor the work being undertaken by private sector and KP Elementary Education Foundation and then provide periodical reports to DFID.

AbacusConsulting has won another World Bank funded Project under the umbrella of Land Records Management Information System (LRMIS). AbacusConsulting now has an understanding with the Board of Revenue, Government of Punjab to provide quality assurance and monitoring services for LRMIS project in 36 Districts of Punjab Province.

The key objectives of the Punjab LRMIS Project are to improve the land records service delivery of the Province of Punjab, which will contribute to a long-lasting tenure security and more efficient operation of land markets. The project will upgrade the land records management system for Punjab by revising current business processes and associated legislation and regulations, establishing Service Centers where land records will be maintained and available to the public in digital form, and establishing linkages between the land records system and the system for registration of deeds. The project will have four components:

(a) The first component will address improvements in business processes and increased institutional capacity at the provincial, district, and lower administrative levels;

(b) The second component will put in place the automated land record system, including the applied software;

(c) The third component will focus on improved service delivery to the population, and include a set of public outreach activities and;

(d) The fourth component will deal with project management, monitoring and evaluation.

Within this broad framework, AbacusConsulting’s role will be towards Quality Assurance and Monitoring of data entry and other operations.

He is also a member of the firm's Executive Committee. He represents some of the world’s largest multinational corporations spanning a wide range of industries. G K Enterprises was established in 2008 with a vision of catering the distribution needs of FMCG channels. It started off with the distribution of Unilever products along with its separate food wing. Now G K Enterprises covers a variety of brands under its umbrella which include Dalda, Castrol, Kolson in addition to Unilever personal care and food division. They have a future plan of adding their existing restaurant chain, livestock supply and agriculture business plan to SAP's portfolio
